Record May for tourism to Israel

May 2017 has been a record-breaking month for tourists visiting Israel, with the highest figures ever recorded for the month of May…347,000 tourist entries were recorded, 16.7% increase on May 2016.

In the five months January-May 2017, 1.43 million tourist entries were recorded, 25% increase on the same period last year.

The May figures show a 23% increase on May 2015. These figures are just higher than the previous record set in May 2014, before the onset of Operation Protective Edge that began in July 2014. 303,000 tourist entries were by air, an increase of 22% on May 2016. 44,000 tourist entries were recorded via the land crossings

January – May 2017

In January – May 2017, 1.43 million tourist entries were recorded, an increase of 25% on the same period in 2016 (1.15 million) and 23% more than in 2015.  The previous record for these five months (in 2014) was also broken, with an increase of about 3%.
