Radio New Zealand caught out again

Honest Reporting Down Under has caught Radio New Zealand out yet again.

rnzDuring one of their regular morning shows they discussed two items relating to Israel and interviewed two so-called experts who presented totally one-sided and unbalanced perspectives.

The first totally misrepresented what Prime Minister Netanyahu had said relating to the shooting of a terrorist in Hebron.

The second topic concerned the possibility of death penalties for convicted terrorists who have murdered Israelis. In this segment the views expressed by the person interviewed were the usual half-truths and twisted versions of reality. In neither case were those interviewed by Radio New Zealand challenged to provide proof of their allegations or questioned as to the veracity of their assertions.

Compounding this travesty was the fact that Radio New Zealand did not feel it necessary to interview anyone who could have presented rebuttals to the distortions broadcast.

One of the fundamental requirements for fair and balanced reporting is the basic need to provide the opportunity for both sides to be heard. Once again, when it comes to Israel, Radio New Zealand has failed to live up to this requirement.

New Zealand is certainly leading the way in a determined and venomous campaign against Israel. There’s real animosity and dislike there – you can feel it.

Disgusting. Shabby journalism has no place on the airways.
ACMA (or NZ equivalent ) should come down like one
Of HAMAS’s tunnels. And with TWICE the well deserved airtime.
Good on you Honest Reporting – great job – can you let Media Watch know?
