Rabbi MC’s Greek event
An orthodox rabbi was the Master of Ceremonies at an event in the NSW Parliament celebrating Greece’s Independence Day.
Rabbi Dovid Slavin was surprised to have been selected to join Amir Salem on the dias following the invitation to event which was spearheaded by Greece’s Consul-General in Sydney Dr Stavros Kyrimis. The consulate was celebrating the 90th anniversary of its presence in Sydney. Our Big Kitchen’s Rabbi Slavin told J-Wire: “I was both surprised and delighted to have been chosen for this honour. NSW Premier Mike Baird was present and I explained to him that his name was derived from the Greek name Michalis but that that in turn was derived from the Hebrew name Mikha’el a rhetorical question meaning ‘Who is like God'”
He added that Our Big Kitchen enjoys substantial support from the Greek community.
