The NSW Corrective Services has donated much needed funds to Sydney’s Jewish House…to improve the facilities it provides for victims of domestic violence.

Minister Phillip Costa, Rabbi Mendel Kastel and Paul Pearce

At a ceremony at Jewish House’s Bondi premises, the NSW Minister for Corrective Services, Phillip Costa, handed the the care organisation’s CEO Rabbi Mendel Kastel a cheque for almost $10,000. The ALP State member for Coogee, Paul Pearce was a willing helper at the handover.

Rabbi Kastel told J-Wire: “We gave the department a wish list of items we needed to improve the facilities we have available for the victims of violent crime.”

The State Government received the funds for Victims of Violent Crimes Grants Program from businesses who provide employment for prisoners in the State’s jails.

Rabbi Kastel added: “I am extremely grateful to those unknown prisoners whose efforts are about to be put to use improving the lot of those who suffer from violent crime.”
