This is the first time an aged care development has achieved the Bilfinger Berger Australia Award for Emerging Assets…an award which focuses on the usage of capital in the development of a new or refursbished community project.

President of the Sir Moses Montefiore Home, David Freeman AM, said on accepting the award: “It is wonderful for an aged care provider to be recognised by the property industry.”

The Monte, as the home is affectionately known, accommodates 276 residents and provides the full range of currently available  care options.

CEO Robert Orie said: “Our goal was to achieve a building which would be aesthetically pleasing so as to maximise the quality of life for our residents and would be  efficient from an operartional perspective. Our architect worked closely with us to create a secure and safe environment which includes a large internal courtyards, neighbourhoods with central common areas, memory boxes at the entrance to each room, a café area, a boutique, a hair-dressing salon and a hydro-therapy pool.”

Orie added: “We see the outcome of the careful planning every day reflected in the happiness and comfort of our residents. This is the ultimate reward.”
