Two presentations on the global Jewish scene will be featured at the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies monthly plenum meeting next Tuesday evening.

There was a healthy participation of Australians and former Australians at the American Jewish Committee’s Global Forum in Washington DC last week. The participants included NSW Jewish Board of Deputies CEO Vic Alhadeff and Jeremy Jones AM, Director of International and of Community Affairs of the Australia/Israel & Jewish Affairs Council, who will both address the Board of Deputies plenum.

Alhadeff will present an overview of major issues discussed at the Global Forum, and Jones will cover issues raised at the Access 20/20 conference which was held for young adults to plan strategies for engagement and activism, and which followed the Global Forum. Jones addressed the Access 20/20 conference on “Jewish engagement with Asia” and “The limits and potential in Jewish-Muslim dialogue”.

Also in attendance at the Global Forum were AIJAC executive director Dr Colin Rubenstein AM, AUJS president Daniel Nash, Board of Deputies former executive director Margaret Gutman OAM and Arsen Ostrovsky (formerly with AIJAC), who is currently based in New York. Nash and Ostrovsky also delivered papers at the Access 20/20 conference.

The plenum will be held in the Benefactors Hall, Darlinghurst, on Tuesday May 15 at 7.30pm.

  1. Wow, in this case I shall stop connecting to all Jewish sites, including this one, because Vic and Jeremy will fill me in with ALL that matters, so I wont wonder arround Bondi Junction mall and Westfiled shopping, Coles, Rose Bay parks, Redfern wholesale shops and factory secconds, Manly beach etc., anyway, obviously I DO go arround a bit, but wont be a wondering bubble eyed ignorant any more and all that because ” Vic has told me !”.
