A counsellor specialising in breast cancer consulted by movie icon Angelina Jolie will be the guest speaker at this year’s Pink Monday Tea in Sydney.

Krystal Barter, the  founder of Pink Hope will address the function organised by the National Council of jewish Women Australia next Monday.

Angelina Jolie contacted Krystal Barter when she was in Sydney in 2014, as both women carry the faulty BRCA1 gene which gives them vastly increased risk of breast or ovarian cancers.  Krystal had already undergone a preventative double mastectomy and thereafter, preventative removal of her ovaries and fallopian tubes.  Angelina wanted to consult Krystal prior to her own ovarectomy.  “I know I’ve got to do it,” Jolie told Barter.

Barter created  Pink Hope of help and educate women confronted with the problem of breast and ovarian cancer.

Join in the Pink Monday Tea with National Council of Jewish Women of Australia NSW Jewish Women’s Breast Cancer Network program on 19 October at 10.30 am, and hear Guest Speaker, Krystal Barter, founder of Pink Hope.  She is a preventative cancer activist. Pink Hope offers education, guidance and support, to assess the risks of breast and ovarian cancer,as well as offering risk management strategies.

Mandi Chonowitz-Jacobson, Chair of the NCJWA NSW Jewish Women’s Breast Cancer Network will be launching the new Support Program at this meeting.

NCJWA JWBCN was initiated in 2005 and has worked to raise awareness and educate the community about breast and related cancers as well as raise funds for the Breast Cancer Network Australia

Barter has been featured on 60 Minutes, and been the subject of articles written in the Sydney Morning Herald and The Australian.

Mandi Chonowitz-Jacobson is chair of the Jewish Women’s Breast Cancer Network and will launch a support program at the event.
