Packaged Care
Jewish Care Victoria was recently selected to deliver a new type of Community Aged Care package known as Consumer Directed Care packages.
Jewish Care – through its community aged care program Kesher – has now fulfilled the implementation phase of delivering these new packages to the community and all four packages are now allocated to clients.
The first recipient, Bela Brener, is reaping the rewards — more choice and flexibility for her care options. Mrs. Brener’s daughter and carer, Rita, said “The CDC packages enable us to use the funds to support my mother’s care in ways that were not possible before. This has improved my whole view point of the Kesher program as it really shows the dedication Jewish Care has towards the community.”

Speaking about Jewish Care’s commitment to the ‘Active Service Model’ approach of care, Brett Ould, Kesher Manager, says “these multi-layered packages give our clients and their carers full input into their care needs, deciding what, how and when the services are purchased to best suit their own care requirements. They differ from normal Aged Care packages as our clients can purchase care and services over a 12 month period and are not restricted to purchasing on a weekly basis. There is the ability to schedule the care as it may be required throughout the year.”
As the Breners have experienced, this new model empowers the elderly and their family carer to reach a greater level of independence, to be fully engaged in controlling their own healthcare and be more self-determining in improving their quality of life.
