Five mosaics were unveiled at Sydney’s Burger Centre’s first Open Day….created by artist Vicki Moliver and the clients of The Burger Centre.

Taking six months to complete, the mosaics, the largest of which is 1m x 1.2m depict elements of Jewish Life.

The Open Day was attended by 110 people and showcased the wide range of activities and facilities that The Burger Centre offers to people during the various stages of ageing.   The Centre runs programs from those who are unable to get out themselves and want to chance to socialise through to people living with dementia. It also is able to offer respite to families caring for loved ones with dementia. Clients of the Centre all receive a nutritious Kosher meal each lunchtime.

Families found the activities that The Centre offers impressive, not realising that they have a clinical component aiming to stimulate and exercise body or brain. The activities range from seated yoga and gentle exercise to word games, quizzes, discussion groups and opportunities to reminisce about the past as well as a wide range of art and craft activities.

In order to ensure people are offered the appropriate day, each person is assessed prior to starting.
