Wikileaks have released a 2004 cable in which the then Prime Minister Helen Clarke is reported not to have pressured the Kuwaiti government for information on one if its citizens allegedly involved in a massive passport forgery case in New Zealand…because of the multi-million dollar sheep trade with Kuwait.

Counsel in the case in which an Iraqi and Kuwaiti were found guilty of forging 50 passports involving 17 countries, told the court at another trial which saw two Israelis jailed and diplomatic relations stopped between Israel and New Zealand that trade between Israel and New Zealand was minimal.

Kuwaiti Dr Salam Abu-Shabaan was identified as thering-leader in New Zealand’s largest forgery case. Although New Zealnd police, according to the Wikileak cable, had evidence of his involvement, the Prime Minister made no attempt to pressure the Kuwaiti government for information about him.

The Wikileak cable was released by the New Zealand Herald

Send it on to the Department of Foreign Affairs in both Australia and New Zealand.
Although from experience when dealing with the Vatican representative, they don’t like to get involved with other countries affairs if expedient; and
who isn’t more favour seeking than those dealing with the Head of State of Rome with their diplomatic immunity on all the issues under the sun.
