As a barrister, Kinsgley Davis did not find receiving letters from Government House to be a special event.

He told J-Wire: “I am frequently being asked to act as referee for those nominated for an award so you can imagine how surprised I was when I opened a letter from Government House advising me that I had been nominated myself.”

Kingsley Davis told J-Wire: “My work with the Scouting movement has brought many surprises including one day being thanked by TV personality Jon Faine who remembered his training in the Boy Scouts.”

On a personal note, Kingsley Davis told J-Wire that a personal achievement he was proud of was the role of Baal tekiyah, the blower of the Shofar during the High Holidays. He performed this role between 1962 and 1967 at TBI in Bentliegh and has continued to do so from 1968 at St. Kilda.
