18-yr-old Melbourne student Benyomin Cylich will cross the United States next month on his bicycle to raise $5000 for the Friendship Club.

The former Yeshiva College student who is currently studying aircraft mechanics in Los Angeles is planning to take six weeks for his trip across the USA.

He told J-Wire: “I am currently studying at the North Valley Occupational Centre and another 12 of the students will be making the trip with me. I want to help the Friendship Circle…a world-wide organisation which caters for children with special needs. I used to be a volunteer with them in Melbourne”.

Cylich is planning on cycling 85 miles a day on a carefully calculated route which will take him 3,279 miles across the nation.

He added: “It’s going to be the craziest thing I have ever done.”

Cylich has been biking 50miles a day and eating huge of carbohydrates sodium and electrolytes to prepare for his ride which he dedicating to his cousin Rafoel Oliver who died at the age of 4 from cerebral palsy.

He added: “I am ready for this ride and I feel very confident although I still haven’t reached my fundraising quota. I still need $1700 to reach $5000. They say the first week through the hot deserts of Arizona will be the hardest but after that it should be a bit cooler. There will be ten of us riding including cyclists from USA, Canada, England and Israel. I will be the only Aussie riding and also one of the youngest cyclists. Some of my friends instead of calling me Benyomin Cylich have started calling me Cyclich.
Cylich will leave L.A. on July 1 and plans on arriving in New York on August 17.
