This trend continued in the first quarter of 2018, with January-March 2018 showing a 10% increase in dairy exports in comparison to the same period the previous year. During those three months, dairy exports brought $5.6 million to the Israeli economy.
Israel boasts more than 1,000 locally made dairy products and the world’s largest selection of soft, spreadable white cheeses, according to the Israel Dairy Board.
125,000 milking cows of the Israeli Holstein breed each produce an average of 12,083 kilos of milk per year.
HELPING INDIAN FARMERS
Israel is developing agricultural projects in India, helping farmers there adopt sustainable practices for greater food security.
The initiative, supported by the local government, will include an advanced research and development center, as well as agricultural experts working in villages and farms.
The objective of the initiative is to overcome various technological, agronomic and economic barriers the Indian farmers are dealing with, and to promote sustainable agriculture and food security.
