DRINK UP AND GROW

Many parents are concerned about their children’s height, especially if they are not growing at the pace of children their age. This situation can be especially distressing if the children are picky eaters. So what can parents and paediatricians do to help children reach their height potential?

Height is predominantly genetic, but poor nutrition during childhood may impact a child’s maximum height potential and rate of growth. Therefore, it is important that every child’s diet contain healthy growth-promoting foods and beverages.

A childrens’ protein shake, researched and developed in Israel, is clinically shown to improve children’s height. This kid-friendly protein shake mix, available in tasty vanilla and chocolate flavours, is high in whey protein, vitamins and minerals. According to a recent clinical study, it can help young children who are short and lean grow taller.

It has 12 grams of high-quality bone- and muscle-building whey protein in each serving, and is fortified with vitamins and minerals. This hormone-free, gluten-free shake, called “Healthy Height” is a good source of amino acids that are key to growth. This product contains no soy and none of the artificial colours, flavours or preservatives that parents want to avoid.

MORE LOST JEWS FIND THEIR WAY HOME

Five young women from the ancient Chinese-Jewish community of Kaifeng, recently fulfilled their dreams of formally returning to the Jewish people. The five women have undergone a formal conversion in an emotional ceremony at the Jerusalem Rabbinical Court.

They were all born and raised in Kaifeng, a city in the central Chinese province of Henan, southwest of Beijing, and are descendants of the once-thriving Jewish community that resided there for well over a millennium. At its peak, during the Ming Dynasty, Kaifeng had as many as 5,000 Jews. Today an estimated 1,000 people who are identifiable via family trees and genealogical records as descendants of the city’s Jewish community remain in Kaifeng.

A WORTHY GOAL

This summer, as the FIFA World Cup is underway in Russia, the historic gates of Jerusalem’s Old City will transform into a goalpost as Jews and Arabs join together for a special soccer event.

The gathering is set to bring some 200 young players from the eastern and western sides of Jerusalem to compete in a penalty shootout against world-famous goalies, the event organizers say. In order to generate excitement, the organization is aiming to bring famous goalies from some of the world’s best teams to participate alongside the Jewish and Arab youth.
