j-junction, the specialist Jewish introduction agency, welcomes Michelle Lewis as its new general manager…and the return of Christina Gold to j-junction as PR and community liaison manager.

Michelle Lewis

Michelle Lewis

Lewis has been a volunteer with Sydney’s j-junction for the past three years. She is an experienced matchmaker, having managed Sydney’s premier introduction agency, Yvonne Allen & Associates, for seven years.

“Matchmaking is part of our heritage and is now arguably the most important issue facing our way of life. The Jewish population is at a critical stage and unless we increase it by encouraging young Jewish people to meet, marry and have children our culture will disappear” said  Lewis.

Her appointment was a natural progression, according to Rabbi Mendel Kastel, chairman of j-junction.  In his announcement of the changes this week he expressed a real sense of excitement. “Michelle has been here since  the beginning. She knows how j-junction ticks and knows many of the members. Having worked with her before we were confident she shared the board’s visions for j-junction’s future as well as being a very capable manager”.

Gold returns 17 months after the birth of her daughter, Avalon. With a good understanding of the lives of young career-focused singles and 19 years experience in marketing and PR she brings a wealth of experience to the team.  She is the founder of Caddy Design.

Gold and Lewis worked at j-junction together throughout 2006 and 2007. Gold was initially a volunteer and then held a part time role as PR and community liaison co-ordinator.

“We make a dynamic team,” Gold said.” The personalised and diverse range of services we will offer will be the first of its kind for any organisation of this type.”

j-junction also welcomes back Amanda Garlick, another former volunteer who comes on board as events manager.  Garlick is an experienced marketer and social networker.  A successful businesswoman she can also lay claim to being the organiser and creator of some of the most talked about parties.  Keep a lookout for future  j-junction events which will be open to both members and non-members.

In coming months j-junction plans to announce some exciting initiatives including educational workshops, social events, special interest clubs, personal development, and date coaching – all aimed at increasing reach and assisting Jewish continuity.

j-junction now has around 1200 members and 30 matchmakers in Sydney and Melbourne. Proposing over 100 matches every month between the two cities, future plans include national and international growth.

“This is one of the most rewarding ways to serve the community. It is far more than bringing people together to have fun. There is nothing quite as rewarding as seeing two people find each other and fall in love” Lewis said. “To be a part of that process is a privilege” claims Lewis

    Dear Jewish Sydney Singles,

I am very happy to read the previous posts who show that there are people in Sydney doing something about helping Jewish Continuity. We at Soul Fusion, a Melbourne based Jewish group are holding a National Singles Boat Cruise this Chanukah for mid 20’s to mid 40’s . All information is at http://www.nationalboatcruise.com

If you could please pass on this information to all the Jewish Singles of Sydney it would be much appreciated and a big Mitzvah.

If we can all work together we will have a better outcome in curbing inter-marriage.

    Shana Tova Sydney

    Love
    Sara
