J-Wire quizzed the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade on the “latest developments” in the Zygier case….

The questions followed the extensive report published by Fairfax following a collaborative investigation by the Australian media giant with the German publication “Der Spiegel” which “detailed” how Zygier exposed two Hezbollah members working for Mossad
World wide media has subsequently reported that Australia has been making demands on Israel for further information.
But a spokesman for Foreign Minister Bob Carr told J-Wire: “Consistent with longstanding practice we cannot comment on intelligence matters.
The Australian Government again expresses its condolences to the Zygier family. There was some coverage this week saying DFAT was seeking more information from Israel. That is the request DFAT made for info during the preparation of the March 5 report – it is not a new request.
We are also awaiting the outcome of formal enquiries into this matter in Israel, including that announced by the Knesset Sub Committee for Intelligence in mid-February.”
Most of the relevant facts have been now revealed in the media and I reckon that this should sign off the whole tragic saaga.

Mr Carr has only repeated what his predecessor Stephen Smith stated when Julie Bishop breached international intelligence by confirming Australia uses ” irregular passports”, remember?
He’s a sop as far as I’m concerned.
