The fires along the eastern seaboard and now South Australia are having a devastating effect. With warnings of high temperatures, winds and little rain, the forecast does not bode well for much relief.

The NSWJBD has partnered with Stand Up due to their long and successful history with emergency appeals. Founded 25 years ago in response to the Rwandan Genocide, Stand Up is a Jewish social justice charity to whom donations are tax-deductible.

Jo Silver, CEO of Stand Up said: “Stand Up provides the Australian Jewish community with a collective response to humanitarian crises. We have proudly mobilised the Jewish community for many appeals including the 2014 ebola appeal and 2010 Australian floods appeal which raised $20,000 and $140,000 respectively.”

NSW Jewish Board of Deputies president Lesli Berger said: “We urge the Australian Jewish community to come together as one in support of the victims of the catastrophic bushfires devastating communities across Australia. Our appeal has already raised $23,700 in support of bushfire victims and joining with Stand Up, will help our community to raise an even greater sum.”

Donate HERE before 6 December 2019. All appeal proceeds will go to the Vinnies Bushfire Appeal, helping people deal with the immediate aftermath of fires and to rebuild their lives. Vinnies are on the ground providing food, clothing, essential items and assistance with bills, crisis accommodation and services.

Donations over $2 are tax-deductible

The NSW Jewish Board of Deputies is the officially-elected representative roof-body and voice of the Jewish community of New South Wales.

Stand Up is a non-profit humanitarian organisation seeking to inspire the Jewish community to work towards the promotion of social justice.
