The NSW Association of Jewish Ex-Servicemen & Women has been awarded a $5,000 grant under the NSW Government’s Anzac Community Grants program.

Peter Allen, Victor Dominello and Warwick Abadee

Minister for Citizenship and Communities Victor Dominello said the NSW Government is committed to making Anzac commemorations open and welcoming to all NSW residents, regardless of their age or cultural background.

“In order to keep the Anzac spirit alive, it is vital that we make Anzac commemorations inclusive of all members of our community, including those from culturally diverse backgrounds,” Mr Dominello said.

“A quarter of NSW residents were born overseas and about one in five speak a language other than English at home.

“These Anzac Community Grants will help local multicultural communities to raise public awareness of the Anzac legacy and the  sacrifices made by Australians in war,” Mr Dominello said.

Warwick Abidee told J-Wire: “This was one of a small number of Grants awarded to organisations in NSW. It reflects the standing in the community at large of NAJEX’s 87 years’ old history.

Minister Dominello congratulated NAJEX’s President Warwick Abadee and Special Adviser on ANZAC Centenary Affairs, Peter Allen.

The 2015 Centenary promises to be one of the most auspicious and exciting events in Australia’s history, with NAJEX already geared-up to play a pivotal role.
