Politicians welcome Alhadeff appointment
NSW Opposition Leader John Robertson has today welcomed the appointment of Vic Alhadeff as the new Chair of the Community Relations Commission.
“I warmly congratulate Vic Alhadeff on his appointment as Chair of the Community Relations Commission and I look forward to working with him,” Mr Robertson said.
“Vic is widely respected as a voice for tolerance, dignity and human rights – and his ability to bring together people from all walks of life.
“This significant new role is a continuation of his outstanding work as Chair of the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies.
“Raised in Zimbabwe and educated in South Africa before coming to this country, Vic’s journey reflects the story of so many migrant Australians.”
“He will be an outstanding ambassador for multicultural NSW.”
Shadow Minister for Citizenship and Communities Guy Zangari said: “I welcome the appointment of Vic Alhadeff to the Community Relations Commission and congratulate him wholeheartedly.
“Vic was the first community leader to knock on my door when I was elected in 2011.
“He has always been a shining light of the Jewish community and our society as a whole.
“Vic will of course being new ideas and refresh the face of the Commission.
“Interfaith dialogue has always been a key priority for Vic and I am sure this will remain so.
“His ability to empathise with communities makes him an ideal choice for the role.”
