Australian suspect in Burgas bombing
A six month enquiry into the bombing of a tourist bus in Burgas Bulgaria last July in which five Israelis lost their lives was most likely carried out by Hezbollah militants from Lebanon…one of them the bearer of an Australian passport.
‘The bomber was killed with the the five Israelis and the bus driver in the incident at the Black Sea resort.
Bulgaria’s Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov said that a Canadian and an Australian passport-holders were “members of the militant wing of Hezbollah”.
The Australian is believed to have lived in Lebanon since 2006.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reacted to the news by calling on European nations to “reach the required conclusions regarding the true nature of Hezbollah” according to the BBC.
The bomber’s head was found at the scene but investigators believe that it was not a suicide bombing. Their findings indicate the bomb was exploded by remote control or accidentally by the bomber.
