New Zealander-born soldier killed in Gaza

A 21-yr-old New Zealander has been killed in a gunfight with Hamas in the Gaza strip.

Staff-sergeant Guy Boland was born in the North Island town of Taupo and moved to Israel with his father Glenn and Israeli-born mother Adva at the age of five.

His grandfather Jim Boland told the New Zealand Herald: “He was fighting for a cause and gave his life for it”.

Guy Boland, described by his grandfather as being “very gregarious and very likeable” was a combat engineer in the Israeli 7th Armoured Brigade.

According to his Facebook page, Guy Boland lived in Ginnosar, Hazafon.
