Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that “PLO Executive Committee Member, Hanan Ashrawi, Sunday discussed Israel’s violations of international law and the lack of international will to bring about a just solution, with the newly appointed New Zealand Representative to the Palestinian Authority, Sir Jim McLay.

During a meeting held at the PLO Headquarters in Ramallah, Ashrawi expressed her appreciation to New Zealand for its positive role and continued backing of Palestine at the United Nations.

Both parties also discussed New Zealand’s upcoming presidency of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and its ideas for a political initiative that were raised in early 2015 and the candidates nominated for the role of the UN Secretary-General.

In the context of reviewing joint cooperation between Palestine and New Zealand, Ashrawi called on the New Zealand government to support Palestinian efforts at the UNSC and to recognize Palestine in the immediate future.”

However a spokesperson for New Zealand’s  Ministry of Foreign Affairs told J-Wire: “During that time he has been meeting with a range of ministers and senior officials, including PLO Executive Committee Member Hanan  Ashrawi.

During the meeting, a range of bilateral, regional and multilateral issues were discussed, including the Middle East Peace Process.  Sir Jim reflected  New Zealand’s balanced approach on this issue, highlighting  that both sides have a responsibility to work constructively  towards a two state solution.”

I’m guessing that Hanan consulted with Bob Ashrawi in this matter.

These NZ people have not “been duped.”
    They are willing victims.
Just like a former Australian foreign minister, they know the truths of the Arab war against Israel, but the truths are irrelevant to their agenda.

  3. Adrian Jackson says:

Australia’s friend and ally, New Zealand, are often ahead of Australian on social justice issues, (eg) gay marriage and nuclear disarmament, irrespective of which party is in government and the current NZ PM is a member of the Jewish religion too.

    Sir Jim has been duped.

How can he be “New Zealand Representative to the Palestinian Authority” when the Palestinian Authority no longer exists – having been disbanded by decree of Mahmoud Abbas on 3 January 2013?

New Zealand – you are way behind the times and need to catch up very quickly.

Not only has Sir Jim been duped but so has Murray McCully – both big Macs have had the (NZ) sheep’s wool pulled over their eyes

Sounds like the fairy tale of the emperor’s new clothes to me.

Two big Macs have become junior burgers.
