Sydney’s Jewish House has welcomed Rabbi Mendel Grossbaum as new rabbinical lead for the organisation.

Rabbi Grossbaum’s appointment to Jewish House will allow CEO Rabbi Mendel Kastel the capacity to grow and develop the organisations critical crisis care work in the community.

This year will mark Rabbi Kastel’s 10th year as CEO of Jewish House, and the 35th year of the crisis care charity’s work in the local Eastern Suburbs community. Jewish House provides 24/7 crisis care line for people in need, including – rapid rehousing, psychology and counselling services, mediation.

Rabbi Kastel will focus on the growing needs in the community for Jewish House services, whilst Rabbi Grossbaum will focus on pastoral care and rabbinical services.

Since arriving to Sydney last week from Los Angeles California, Rabbi Grossbaum – a member of the Chabad network – says “I feel so warmly welcomed into the local Eastern Suburbs community, by Rabbi Kastel and the staff and community at Jewish House. I look forward to offering rabbinical support and services to the wider community over the coming year, and settling my family into Sydney life”.

Rabbi Grossbaum is joined in Sydney by his wife Chaya, and sons Levi and Leibel.
