Bondi Mizrachi’s President, Michael Goldberg is delighted with Rabbi Solomon’s appointment stating, “the energy, enthusiasm and positivity he and Michal bring to our community will continue to attract more young families and enhance our friendly, vibrant atmosphere. We are confident Rabbi Solomon will help position Bondi Mizrachi Synagogue as Sydney’s leading modern orthodox, Zionist congregation”.

Announcing plans for the refurbishment of the Shule, Goldberg added, “Bondi Mizrachi is a vital component of Sydney’s modern orthodox Zionist community. Our building is now over 40 years old and it’s time for us to plan for the future and upgrade and extend our Shule and functions hall”.

Rabbi Solomon attended Carmel School in Perth followed by Yeshivat Har Etzion’s Hesder’s program in Jerusalem, going on to serve two years in the IDF’s Nahal Infantry Brigade as a combat soldier and medic.

He received S’micha from both Rav Zalman Nechemia Goldberg and the Chief Rabbinate. He also has a Bachelor of Education. More recently, Rabbi Solomon has been instrumental in developing a Rabbinic Training Program in Israel to help send Rabbis to diaspora communities around the world.

Rabbi Solomon said, “it has been my dream to be a community Rabbi and both Michal and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to continue to build Bondi Mizrachi. We are fully committed to engaging people with their Judaism whilst providing programs and content that cater to a wide range of people within the community”.

Rabbi Solomon has deep connections to the NSW and Western Australian Jewish communities. His maternal grandfather, Joseph Berinson, was the Attorney General of Western Australia from 1983 until 1993 as well as serving as the President of the Jewish Community Council of Western Australia for several years. His paternal grandfather, Jeffrey Solomon, was the President of Newcastle Synagogue and his father Rabbi Marcus Solomon, a leading Perth barrister and Rabbi, was also intimately involved with the establishment of Carmel School in Perth.

Rabbi Solomon’s official inauguration will be held at the Shule on 16 August 2015.
