The Israeli Ambassador to New Zealand says Palestine’s admittance to the U.N. as a non-member State is meaningless…

HE Shemi Tzur

Ambassador Shemi Tzur’s statement in response to the UN General Assembly’s decision to vote in favor of the Palestinian bid for recognition as a non-member state at the United Nations:

The Ambassador echoed Prime Minster Netanyahu’s response: “This is a meaningless decision that will not change anything on the ground”.  Expressing disappointment on the overall adoption of the resolution, the Ambassador stressed that achieving the goals of the two state solution,  which would reside side-by-side, can be reached only through direct talks. The way to peace between Jerusalem and Ramallah is in direct negotiations, without preconditions, and not in one-sided UN decisions.

Answering questions regarding New Zealand’s vote in support of the resolution, the Ambassador expressed regret, given his understanding of New Zealand’s long-term commitment to the principle of direct negotiation as the only way to reach durable peace in the region.

The Ambassador added that Israel is prepared to live in peace with a Palestinian state, but for peace to endure, Israel’s security must be protected. The Palestinians must recognize the Jewish State and they must be prepared to end the conflict with Israel once and for all.

Ambassador Tzur said, “Israel is again urging the Palestinian leadership to give up their destructive approach and work with us to forge constructive solutions at the negotiating table. The foundations for a real Palestinian statehood and real peace for Palestinians and Israelis alike can only be laid through direct talks as we did with Egypt and Jordan.

“When the foundations for lasting peace are in place, Israel will not be the last nation to welcome Palestinians to the UN. We will be the first”, said the Ambassador.

”’Is meaning less’… that’s certainly not the Vaticans point of view.
It hails the UN vote, immediately calling for an “internationally guanteed special status for Jerusalem”, something bound to irritate Israel.

    Not meaningless
its a UN sedative to the Arab spring so that Arabs feel that somthing is changed
its also a reminder to delusional % of Israeli public who belive there’s no such thing as Palastinians ; just a mix of Arabs living on an exclusively Israeli land they stole for the past 2000 years
Also a reminder that this UN council is the one that unlowfully gave Israel recognition(which is not the same as legetimacy btw). And today after 70 years its members remember that they forgot to recognise the occupied oppressed nation!

Meaningless? Sure, Israel would say such a thjng about a UN decession.. Israel has repeatedly ignored more crusial UN decessions including the 1967 boarders & the ban on expanding settelments.

No pre-conditions? Yet he mentons “Jerusalim to Ramallah” implying that AlQuds/J. is an Israeli city or capital city, Somthing no Arab would accept, let alone that its against earlier UN decrees..Also he mentions “Jewish State” somthing his gov. is cooking into a racial discrimination & exclusion scheme designed to eventually kick Israeli Arabs out thier own inherited lands & homes in Israel.. Aren’t These two a pretty bad even illigal pre-condition on his side?

Distructive Approch & Constructive Approach? Approaching UN is distructive while imposing new ground conditions on the land & people by force , expanding settelments and terretory, killing Palestinian leaderships, is the Constructive approach in his vew?

Its a great decision because with statehood comes responsibility and now there is an address that if the Palestinians continue with their criminal firing of rockets on innocent israeli citizens ,war will be declared on the State of Palestine and it will be turned into a parking lot.Assad in Syria has shown us how Arabs deal with Arabs and we should be no different. He has only murdered 40000 of his country men, women and children in the last 7 months without much of a murmur from the Arab world or the rest of the world for that matter. In fact the Russians and Chinese are supporting this along with the Iranians. What a bunch of ratbags.
In actual fact there are 100’s of arabs and moslems murdered everyday throughout Arab/Moslem lands without much protest by the world.Must be that the Arabs and Moslems are happy to be killed by each other but if a jew defends himself there is an uproar.Very strange circumstances.

‘”otto’ , michael, we await your comments on this ‘meaningless’ decision.

  5. Ben Eleijah says:

A meaningless decision fought tooth an nail y Israel, The US and Zionists in Austyralia! And direct talks about what ? When Israel unilaterally continues to expand settlements and the barrier inside the West Bank! Talk about talks while there won’t be any Palestine left to talk about. Israel can open talks with the Arab League and Hamas – it had secret negotiations with Hamas leaders in the past including the leader they killed in the last bombing, while publicly opposing talks with Hamas – on its decade old resolution offering full recognition if it is honest about peace and two states.

    • Shirlee. says:

      Hello Ben !!!
*****there won’t be any Palestine left to talk about.*****

My word there is, just across the River Jordan is 78% of it.

Ben, do you read what’s going on?

They not want to talk. As we speak they are drawing up the map of their future State of Palestine.

      JEW FREE

      • Ben Eleijah says:

Congratulations on your openness. We now see the open Zionist design of Eretz Yisrael – clearing the land of its indigenous population as Liebermann advocates. The editors will not allow the G>>>>>>> word. But that is what it is – the attempt to partially or totally exterminate a group.

        • Ben Eleijah says:

Amira Hass and Uri Davies have honorary Palestinian citizenship. Abbas has said the Jewish settlers can live in Palestine as Palestinian citizens. The opposition is to occupation not Jews. the need for more clever lies is evident here.
