JNF has recently created a new and exciting group for ‘young retirees’ called Zahav, or gold in English.

jnf70The group was formed in response to many of our supporters and friends who may have recently retired from full-time work or simply looking to engage with others in the Jewish community at a similar life stage.

JNF remains committed to ensuring that they play their part in maintaining a vibrant local Jewish community and more so providing opportunities to socialise and interact with each other.

We all know that 65 is definitely the new 45 where in days past, 65 meant it was time to not just retire from work but retire somewhat from an active lifestyle, time to slow down and take it easy. While it is true that there may be more quality time available to choose, the vibrant baby boomer generation are certainly not known nor have a desire to suddenly just stop.

In fact today they are generally fitter, healthier, more active and certainly more energised than the generations before them. With better life choices they have decades of vitality and healthy living ahead of them.

Life is exciting with more time to pursue passions and hobbies whether music, film, culture or sports. There is more time to spend on personal interests whether local affairs, world news, politics or perhaps just strengthening their connection with their Jewish roots and Israel.

Zahav will therefore hold a series of smaller and more intimate events throughout the year. These social ‘get togethers’ will take place at interesting locations such as cafes. Galleries, MCA and the like. In addition to fine food and wine, attendees will hear from a diverse range of thought-provoking and dynamic speakers from a variety of backgrounds and on abroad range of subject matter.

JNF is confident that Zahav will grow steadily, given the incredibly positive feedback received to date. Following on the great success of other groups within JNF such as Business Forum, they plan to continue engaging and strengthening the local community with even more local initiatives.
