The Jewish Communal Appeal has launched Gateway, a comprehensive website and a single point of entry portal detailing the range of Aged Care and Health Care Services available to the NSW Jewish Community.

Gateway, operating from today, will ensure that the community has access to information when needed to understand the full spectrum of services available and offers information on the key Jewish services providers.

Organisations catering for these needs and listed on the website include B’nai B’rith Retirement Villages, The Burger Centre, COA Sydney, JewishCare, The Montefiore Home and Wolper Jewish Hospital. All are fully contactable through the website, www.gatewaynsw.com or through the central contact number 1300 85 4283.

Recognising the need to synchronise and streamline the search for relevant aged care services, Gateway is a vehicle to empower people to make an informed decision.

Services listed on the website include:

  • accommodation
  • community and social support
  • health, rehabilitation and respite
  • hospital services
  • in home care
  • positive ageing; and
  • professional guidance.

Dr Frank Wolf, Chair of JCA’s Planning committee commented that “Through JCA’s Planning Committee we have been working with our community’s aged care and health service providers to create a website that the community can use to assist them understanding the scope of the services provide to the community in this sector.  The website should revolutionise the way people seek the services they require.  Kudos must also go to our member organisations that are all co-operating to make this a seamless single point of entry for our aged as well as their carers and families.”

I fouund most uplifting the launch of book by Dr Barda about the Egiptian-Jewish emigrress to Australia Comments of the research done at the Sydney Universisity under care of professors Konrad Kwiet and Susan Suterland followed by emotional and sprinkled with humourous remarks book’s author address were rewarded with applause of ca 150 people who attended this event in the Sydney Jewish Museum on Sunday afternoon, 18 March. The launched book is based on the author’s Phd thesis.
The couple of words of Prof. Suterland about the difference between the destiny of the thousands of Jewish people for centuries living in and adding to prosperity of Egipt and surrounding Arab countries, who were ruthlesly expelled in 1948, and after and gradually absorbed in newly established State of Israel, USA, Australia and other western states, and the Arab refugees from Palestine under British Mandate for political reasons kept at the camps in the Middle East., brewing the constant unrests in this volatile area will remain in my memory for ever. Whats a pity that these facts are not reminded and discussed in the general media of aur country presenting the manipulated version of history remembered by some older people still alive.
