In Jerusalem the Prime Minister’s Office issued the following statement:

“Prime Minister Netanyahu rejects Donald Trump’s recent remarks about Muslims.

The State of Israel respects all religions and strictly guarantees the rights of all its citizens. At the same time, Israel is fighting against militant Islam that targets Muslims, Christians and Jews alike and threatens the entire world.

As for the meeting with Mr. Trump that was set some two weeks ago, the Prime Minister decided earlier this year on a uniform policy to agree to meet with all presidential candidates from either party who visit Israel and ask for a meeting.

This policy does not represent an endorsement of any candidate or his or her views. Rather, it is an expression of the importance that Prime Minister Netanyahu attributes to the strong alliance between Israel and the United States.”

Oh yes and if trump becomes the next President of the USA how is he going to look on Israel after these political correct comments by Netanyahu.

For once, just once, I would like to see the Jewish world shed the “holier than thou” mantle and simply, at a time Muslims are killing Jews in the streets of Jerusalem, to put it bluntly, shut up.

Netanyahu should stick his nose out of US politics and if he can’t agree with Trump then exercise some benign neglect as to his comments.

The trouble is that because Trump is going to visit Israel, Netanyahu has no choice.

      • Gil Solomon says:

        Rami,

So what if Trump is going to visit Israel?
What has going to Israel or not going to Israel have to do with this?

I’ve got news for you, Netanyahu does have a choice he simply made the wrong one. Trump’s proposal for a temporary ban on Muslims entering the USA has hit a cord with a vast number of the American people who are simply sick and tired of political correctness running amok. Trump calls a spade a spade and if Netanyahu does not agree with him he should at a minimum keep his mouth shut.

Gil Solomon, I was just going to write the same thing, but you have saved me the time.
