New Zealand’s Federation of Islamic Associations said the action against Shaykh Dr Mohammad Anwar Sahib is effective immediately.

The online video shows the Muslim cleric delivering antisemitic speech and he has been condemned for his actions.

Videos of speeches delivered by Sahib at the Manukau mosque have been widely viewed online.

The New Zealand Federation of Islamic Associations has stated they oppose all teachings that promote intolerance, prejudice and discrimination.

The Human Rights Commission have spoken out and say that the speeches given by Sahib were appalling and had no place in New Zealand.

Race Relations Commissioner Susan Devoy says: “We live in one of the most ethnically diverse nations on earth as well as one of the most peaceful: this is because we are a tolerant nation.”

Sahib rejected criticism yesterday, saying he was taken out of context and promotes peace and harmony in society.

“Sadly and falsely, I have been accused of giving hate speeches and being antisemitic.

“I wish to make it absolutely that I do not hate any human regardless of their faith, place of origin, race, colour and political affiliation,” says Sahib.

However, his series of lectures recorded at a Manukau mosque was posted on social media and shows him disparaging Jewish and Christian communities.

Within the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in New Zealand affiliates say they strongly condemn any antisemitic hate speech, and say any Muslim cleric who expresses hate-filled views about other faiths or their followers must be condemned.
