Building will commence immediately, and it is anticipated that the new Centre will be ready to open in March 2018.

The timing for the DA coincides with the planned expansion and improvement of the facilities at the Randwick Montefiore Home, which required the lease on the Moriah College John I Einfeld AM Early Learning Centre to expire at the end of 2017.

“I would like to reiterate our gratitude to the Randwick Montefiore Home, for the wonderful relationship that we have maintained over many years” said Moriah College Principal, John Hamey. “Both organisations are committed to maintaining this important relationship and we will most certainly build on the many opportunities that we have enjoyed over the years to bring our intergenerational communities together. We thank the Montefiore Home for agreeing to house our Early Learning students at the Randwick Centre early next year, until the Queens Park Centre is ready.”

President of Moriah’s Board of Directors, Giora Friede added: “This is an exciting initiative that will open a world of possibilities for all our students and staff members, who will benefit from the expertise and resources available in an ELC – Year 12 school environment, and we extend our thanks to the dedicated committee of town planners, architects, consultants, and members of the Board of Directors, who have assisted in reaching this positive outcome with Council. It is particularly fulfilling to be making this a reality in 2018, as our community celebrates 75 years since the College was established with the opening of a single class in Glenayr Ave, Bondi – the same location as our current Shya Redelman Early Learning Centre.”

The Queens Park Centre will be staffed, resourced and operated in the same way as the current Moriah Early Learning Centres, offering the same highly – regarded Early Learning programming that College is formally recognised for.

The College has communicated with all families that have students enrolled at the Early Learning Centres for 2018 a nd is looking forward to welcoming a new generation of Moriah students, along with their dedicated Early Learning educators, to the Queens Park campus.
