Hillel, a department of the Shalom Institute have launched a search for participants to apply for The Ideation Project.

HillelDesigned to help incubate and launch big ideas, the project is designed to foster a culture around innovation in the Sydney Jewish community by bringing together Sydney-based teams to create innovative social enterprises or other professional community offerings through the lens of Jewish values.

The initiative is a follow-up program from LaunchPad and will mentor and support a number of socially impactful ideas into fruition while supported by the Social Impact Hub.

Five projects will be selected and applicants must be able to show a keen interest in innovation, demonstrated through studies, work, volunteering experience or other means.

Hillel Director, Rachel Flitman spoke to J-Wire.

“Our aim is to actualise 4-5 projects by the end of the year. There are young people who have big ideas or special interests but need direction in getting their ideas off the ground.

“We are looking for innovation in the Jewish world, things which will enrich the community but also have a broader benefit” she said.

Participants (“ideators”) will work in small teams of 3-5 people for around six months, to create a project and design plans, develop prototypes and pitch their innovation to industry professionals.

The culmination will be a pilot launch of their innovations.

Applications close on 30 June 2015
