For several years Rabbi Melchior served as Chairman of the Committee for Children’s Rights in the Knesset, where in this capacity he proposed and saw passed important legislation on the issue of sexual abuse of children. Rabbi Melchior joins a distinguished list of international leaders in various countries and with diverse backgrounds.

Tzedek founder and CEO Manny Waks stated: “We are delighted and truly honoured to have someone of Rabbi Melchior’s calibre and stature join our distinguished Board of Advisors. Personally, I have always held Rabbi Melchior in the highest esteem. This is a further vote of confidence in Tzedek and our crucial work. We look forward to working with Rabbi Melchior in pursuit of our ideal vision; to see a Jewish community free of child sexual abuse.”

Rabbi Melchior added: “Sexual abuse in general and sexual abuse towards children in particular is a crime of the worst kind which threatens the public sphere as well as our schools and our homes, the very places where we look towards for protection and care. As human beings and as Jews, we cannot show indifference towards the victims and must act in every way possible to uproot these crimes from our midst. I am honored to join forces with the wonderful work of Manny Waks and Tzedek in this holy task.”

Good for you, Rabbi Melchior. So good to see a Rabbi and senior member of the Jewish community who stands up to be counted in regard to this dreadful issue.
