Last Saturday, Melbourne’s Herald Sun published an ad from a Kosher butcher recalling meat which may have been contanimated with Latex. J-Wire sought an update from the butcher this morning.

Eric Silver, General Manager of Solomons said: “The Food recall we are conducting is a voluntary one, coordinated with Food Standards Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ) and the Victorian Health Department. We became aware of a contamination issue last Thursday and decided that although the amount of possible contaminant was small, we should conduct a Consumer recall. We are confident that the majority of the contamination affected trade customers who we were able to contact directly. The exact cause of the contamination is still under investigation, however we have already made changes to our procedures to provide additional safeguards against such an occurrence. Once again we apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused.”
