Marathon Man helps raise $1m for cancer research

Jeremy Balkin has arrived back in Sydney from New York where he participated in the world famous New York Marathon…and helped raise $1 million for cancer research.

45,000 runners lined up for the gruelling 42.2km New York Marathon. Regarded as one of the toughest Marathons winding through the five Boroughs of New York and finishing in Manhattan the route included five steep bridges, 30km/h headwinds, single digit temparatures and 2.5m spectators lining the streets.

Sydney runner Jeremy Balkin travelled to New York and run with Team LIVESTRONG a group of people from 28 countries representing the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

The group raised over $1,000,000 for the Foundation supporting global initiatives relating to fighting cancer including early detection, treatment, education and research.

With support of generous family, friends and his employer Macquarie Group through its charitable Foundation, Jeremy was one of the highest individual fundraisers.
