Manny Waks is suing his brother for defamation according to Melbourne’s  “The Age”.

Avrahem (Avi) Yemini, Waks’ brother, has refused to remove from his public Facebook page claims that Mr Waks and his parents hosted a known paedophile in their home for financial gain.

Waks, who is well known for breaking the silence about sexual abuse within Melbourne’s Orthodox community, will soon be promoting his book about the ordeal Who Gave You Permission?

Mr Yemini is the co-founder of IDF Training, a pro-Israel gym in Melbourne’s Caulfield that has come under attack for recruiting members to serve in the Israeli army. He is behind a Facebook page designed to protect the Jewish community in the city’s south-east.

J-Safe is a Facebook page on which victims of crime can ventilate their experiences in the hope of warning others.

Yemini told J-Wire that he had created the page due to an increasing incidence of crime in the area which is home to a large number of Melbourne’s Jewish community.

Yemini made it clear that he did not support vigilante action but admitted that a well-know gang was operating in the area in which residents were considered to be wealthy.

Waks publicly disclosed his personal experiences of child sexual abuse within the Jewish community in 2011 and subsequently undertook work as a victim advocate. In 2012 he established Tzedek, an Australian-based support and advocacy group for Jewish victims and survivors of child sexual abuse.

In the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse earlier this year, Manny Wax and his father Zephania detailed how the family was harassed and ostracised from the Yeshiva community. The house – which they were unable to sell for several years  – belongs to his parents, Zephaniah and Chaya Waks and has been sold to the married daughter of Rabbi Moshe Keller.

Keller has been convicted in New York for endangering the welfare of a child, according to a report in The New York Times. Wak’s parents were unaware of the link to Rabbi Keller and allowed him and his wife to stay in the home while the sale was being finalised. They asked him to leave once they became aware of his notoriety.

In documents lodged with the Supreme Court, Waks says his brother’s claims held him up to contempt and ridicule, and seriously injured his credit and reputation.

    A “pro Israel gym”?
A gym is an inanimate infrastructure and it cant think or have an opinion.

Putting aside the personal issues up, this initiative is something I would praise, not attack. If you’ve seen the attitude, maturity, responsibility and skills of those with IDF training, it is an experience to be commended to suitable young people.
