Magen David Adom plans on establishing an Australian unit of MDA-trained doctors who care about Israel and want to be able to contribute their skills and expertise to the literally life-saving work of MDA.

The program, in which Magen David Adom provides professional emergency training to doctors in Israel, equips doctors to be able to assist actively in the case of national emergency. Whilst hopefully this expertise will never be required, having as many trained doctors as possible will help minimise harm and impact in such an eventuality.

This Australian International Unit will be an exclusive auxiliary team which can be called upon to assist Israel in a crucial time of need. It would also be able to respond effectively to emergencies within the local community, should the need arise.

The program has been running with great success overseas and the formation of the Australian International Unit will be the first time it is being offered here.

Magen David Adom is the provider of Israel’s only national emergency medical service and blood bank services.
