NSW Maccabi’s new mentorship program aims to provide members an opportunity to be involved with the inner workings of its clubs whilst learning from the experiences of others.

Essentially, the new program will see up and coming leaders recognised and given the tools to eventually make their mark in the organisation.

Following an interview process, successful applications will be matched up with a sport specific board where they will attend meetings as a non-voting member whilst learning about how the club functions.

Including everything from fundamental principles and functions, the roles of board members, strategic planning for sporting boards as well as other need to know legal and financial responsibilities that come with running a sporting club.

Over this twelve month period, the successful applicant will be responsible for the completion of a task within the club, in order to make their mark in their time with the club.

The program is aimed at young Maccabi leaders aged between 20 and 35 and provides these young people with an opportunity to volunteer constructively within the community while learning valuable skills for their own futures.

Co-program director David Cohen says that the program gives young people the chance to give something back to the organisation.

“Growing up we have all been impacted by Maccabi, whether socially or competitively,” Cohen said. “And this program provides our members an opportunity to give something back to our clubs.”

To apply, read the prospectus and download the application form from the Maccabi website and submit to mentorship@maccabi.com.au.

Applications close at 5pm on February 17, 2017.
