ZDVO, the Zionist Council of NSW and The Central Synagogue joined forces to host a viewing of the movie Inside Israel: How a small nation makes a big difference.

The screening, which was held at the Entertainment Quarter of Sydney’s Fox Studios, saw around 150 Israel supporters come out in force in honour of Yom Yerushalayim.  The Inside Israel movie highlighted the cutting edge technology that regularly emerges from Israel and the passion and “chutzpah” of the people behind it, just simply looking to make the world a better place.

The President of the ZDVO, Michael Balkin, explained the movie’s strong connection to the ZDVO and to Israel’s 51,000 injured soldiers and victims of terror, in the context of the incredible innovation that has been developed at the ZDVO’s Beit Halochem centres, to help those injured recover and return to a normal life as quickly as possible.

Also speaking at the screening was The Central Synagogue’s Shaliach, Hillel Fried, who gave a presentation that reinforced the Jewish community’s claim on Jerusalem from an academic and historical perspective, comparing it to the claims of both Muslim and Arab communities.

Performing on the evening was Hylton Chilchik who sang a beautiful rendition of Yerushalayim Shel Zahav and Im Shkachech Yerushalayim: If I Forget You Jerusalem.  The evening ended on a high note with a heartfelt rendition of Hatikva.
