The Bondi Lions Club have extended their generosity to the Montefiore Home in support of the Intergenerational Masada College Kabbalat Shabbatons. For the second year running, the Lions Club’s sponsorship will fund a bus for the transportation of Masada students to Hunters Hill to participate in the program.

This week,  David Levy Lions Membership Chairman and Public Officer, and Kolin Bloch, the Bondi Lions Club secretary, visited the Montefiore Randwick home to present the cheque and have lunch with Monte residents. The Bondi Lions Club are great supporters of the Home and David and Kolin were well received by the residents and staff.

Last year the Intergenerational Kabbalat Shabbatons saw students singing a number of traditional Shabbat and Chag songs with many Residents joining in singing and clapping. They were accompanied on the piano by Masada music teacher Sheli Wallach and excited students could be heard singing in the corridors on the way to the lounge. This is important to the Residents who love to see the children and share the traditional Shabbaton songs that they remember from their childhood come to life.

Montefiore encourages intergenerational sharing as part of our commitment to Quality of Life for our Residents and purposefully integrates intergenerational activities into the Home. Montefiore is also very committed to community development.

There is no such word as “Shabbatons”. Try Shabbatonim.
