Always a consistent advocate for the State of Israel, the Liberal Party has announced the launch the Liberal Friends of Israel.

Senator James Paterson, David Southwick and Tim Wilson

This new group, founded by Senator James Paterson, MPs Tim Wilson and David Southwick, will play an important role in deepening the already strong relationship between the Middle East’s only liberal democratic state, the Liberal Party and wider Australia.

Senator James Paterson notes that the relationship between the Liberal Party and Israel is undeniable.

He said: “Under Menzies, Fraser, Howard and now Malcolm Turnbull as Prime Minister, the Liberal Party has been a friend of Israel and the Jewish community both locally and on the international stage for decades. The Liberal Friends of Israel will foster that friendship at a grassroots level, uniting Liberal and Jewish communities in support of our shared values.”

The Liberal Friends of Israel will further act as an advocate for Israel, campaigning against the consistent delegitimisation that Israel is almost uniquely subjected to.

Federal Liberal Member for Goldstein Tim Wilson added: “I’m proud to represent an electorate that has one of the largest Jewish communities in Australia, and equally proud to stand side-by-side with one of our most important allies – Israel. Liberal Friends of Israel is designed to push back against the BDS deligitimacy campaign and show Liberals and Goldstein residents stand with Israel for peace, stability and liberal democratic values.”

The Liberal Friends of Israel will not only provide an opportunity for members of the Jewish community to get behind the Liberal Party in their support for Israel but will also build on the important advocacy work.

Member for Caulfield, David Southwick said that he was very proud to be a Liberal MP that has been steadfast in its support for Israel. “We are inviting people of all faiths and backgrounds to join and unite behind the Liberal Party in their support for Israel”.

The Liberal Friends of Israel Launch will be attended by  Victorian Leader of the Opposition Matthew Guy, and David Sharma, former Australian Ambassador to Israel among numerous other notable Liberal Party MPs.

The event will be held at Central Community Centre (4 Maple St, Caulfield South) on Sunday the 22ndof July at 8PM. Booking Essential – Try-booking.com/VXFF

I think Dan Andrews ALP will win in Victoria at the next state election in November 2018.

He is doing a good job even though I put incumbent ALP sitting members last in the lower houses and Libs second last in past election but maybe not this election.

The last time I voted ALP was during the Whitlam era federally and never in Victoria to date.

In the upper house I select candidates I like regardless of party or independent status and I dont vote of extremes of the left or the right.
