Following the huge success of the kosher pop up restaurant at the 2016 Sydney production, MY NAME IS ASHER LEV, preparations are underway to bring back the restaurant for this year’s season.

The restaurant in the Eternity Playhouse, under Two Trout chefs Lockie Clifford and Theo Hlorotiris, will be kosher throughout the three-week season in May of the world premiering play, YOU WILL NOT PLAY WAGNER. It does need a minimum number to proceed, however, so interest patrons are encouraged to book now.

“We had a huge response to last year’s restaurant and some 2800 people saw the play. There was an incredible vibe every night, with people enjoying a stylish culinary experience and excellent night of theatre. That’s an experience many people take for granted but, for kosher consumers, is a huge boon. We expect that wonderful experience will be repeated this year”, producer Michael Misrachi enthused.

The daily a la carte menu includes starters, mouth-watering mains, delicious vegetable sides, and deserts.

“The menu is designed to offer a point of interest on the plate using fresh seasonal produce, quality cuts of meat, and market fresh fish. We hope to be able to take you on a mini food journey whilst dining with us,” said chef Lockie Clifford.

YOU WILL NOT PLAY WAGNER, presented by Shalom and Moira Blumenthal Productions, plays from 8 to 29 May 2016 at the Eternity Playhouse, Darlinghurst. It tells the story of a young Israeli conductor who causes a national storm by selecting to perform Wagner, previously taboo due to his Nazi association, in the finals of an international music competition in Israel. Thought-provoking and moving, the play grapples with major questions about Holocaust memory and creative expression.
