A coroner’s inquest into the 2006 murder of Hungarian-born Katherine Sweitzer has heard that the wheelie bin in which her body was found had been wiped clean of fingerprints.

The court heard that the 81-yr-old’s Holocaust survivor’s body had been found under a quilt in the wheelie bin outside the unit in the Bellevue Hill block of apartments in which she had lived.

The court was told that at least two men had touched the body and had rummaged through the bin and that one of the men is the main person of interest to the investigating police.

The court was also told that in order to protect illegal immigrants, they were lied to by residents and that the evidence in the bin had been contaminated.

Counsel Assisting Ian McClintock SC said there had been no motive found relating to her $3.3 million will.

Her handbag had been removed  from the bin and police found that the contents had been wiped clean of fingerprints as had the bin itself.

Katherine Schweitzer was strangled on December 27, 2006. She was a widow and had no children. Most of her estate had been bequeathed to Jewish charities.

The inquest continues.
