Sydney’s Kashrut Authority has notified the JCA and the NSWJBD that it is willing to continue with a detailed audit of its finances…but only if it is conducted by an auditor acceptable to all parties.kashrutAnd the man selected by the KA to carry out the audit is community identity Peter Hersh who already audits the books of the KA.   J-Wire understands that the KA has been advised not to conduct a forensic audit as requested by  community leadership.  Baron Revelman, president of the KA, told J-Wire: “A search on the true meaning of a forensic audit is that it is used to produce financial and accounting evidence for a criminal court case, and as no allegations have been made in this regard concerning The KA, such an examination is simply not warranted.   Peter Hersh is a highly respected member of the Sydney community who audits the books of many leading organisations.   We are just waiting for confirmation that he is approved to conduct the audit.”

Revelman also commented on a situation regarding Sydney Kosher eatery Pita Mix. The KA mashgiach recently discovered meat on the premises which was not from an authorised source.   Although he was informed it was for personal use, the meat was still on the premises two days later and was confiscated by the KA’s Rabbi Moshe Gutnick, in accordance with the terms and conditions of The KA’s kashrut licence.   There is no suggestion that the meat was not kosher.

Baron Revelman told J-Wire that a receipt was issued for the meat.   He said: “This matter has been settled to our mutual satisfaction and we are confident that this will not happen again.   The community can remain confident that food bought or consumed at Pita Mix continues to meet the standard of Kashrut demanded by the KA.”
