Jun-17 Sydney: A special cantorial Shabbat

Read on for article

Sydney’s The Central Synagogue celebrates the 45 years of service given to the shul by Cantor Shimon Farkas.

At the age of 22 years Chazan Farkas was appointed as cantor of Australia’s largest Orthodox congregation.
His pure, soulful voice literally raises our roof! Every congregant feels genuinely privileged to be in his presence and hear his moving renditions of each service. Under his guidance along with Chazan Yehuda Niasoff, Central offers an extraordinary array of spiritual, musical pieces performed by our Choir and Boys Choir throughout the year.
It is so heart-warming to see that synagogues can build and sustain long-term positive bonds with their spiritual leaders and chazanim. In today’s fast-paced reality, that is just so refreshing and encouraging. The entire community is invited to join us for a unique Cantorial Shabbat.
