Initiated by NCJWA in 2005 the event highlights Australia’s significant role played in the establishment of the State of Israel. It was Doc Herbert Evatt, then Australian Foreign Minister, chairman of the UN Ad Hoc Committee on Palestine, who was the mastermind of the Partition Plan.

Guest of honours include keynote speaker direct from Jerusalem CEO and Director General of the Jewish Agency, Allan Hoffmann, who has dedicated his professional life to promote Jewish Education and spokesperson for The Embassy of Israel in Canberra Dorit Herscovici.

Celebrating Israel 2016 titled ‘A Cultural Narrative’, will feature poetry, prose and film of Jewish writers from Nathan Alterman to President Shimon Peres depicting ‘The Vote’. The special production includes presentations by the Jewish Youth Movements in NSW.

A Stamp Exhibition by George Boski, depicting the era, will be on display throughout the evening.

NCJWA Celebrating Israel event is jointly co-hosted by Hamoadon HaIsraeli, NSW Jewish Board of Deputies and the Zionist Council of NSW.

NCJWA Celebrating Israel annual event to be held on Tuesday, 29 November 2016, starting 7pm at Fanny Reading Council House, Woollahra.
