An Israeli security was killed Sunday after being stabbed by a terrorist in the Muslim Quarter of Jerusalem’s Old City.  The terrorist, a West Bank Palestinian, was shot dead by an Israeli policeman.

The victim, Adiel Coleman, from the Jewish community of Kochav HaShachar in Samaria, succumbed to his wounds while undergoing emergency treatment at Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek hospital.  Coleman is survived by his wife and four children.

First responder Dr. Yishai Ben Uri Zilbeger said, “After being notified by United Hatzalah’s dispatch and Command center to the incident in the Old City, I arrived at the scene and found one person in their 20’s suffering from a stab wound in their upper chest. He was in serious condition. I treated him at the scene for his injuries following which he was transported from the location of the incident to the hospital for further care and observation.”

Initial media reports claimed that the terrorist was a Muslim tourist from Turkey. Israel’s Shin Bet internal security services later identified the attacker as Abd al-Rahman Bani Fadel, from Aqraba, near the Palestinian-controlled city of Nablus, also known as Shechem, in Samaria.

Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan issued a statement on Twitter, saying, “I praise the police officer who reacted swiftly and killed the terrorist and prevented further injuries,” adding that “the Israel Police will continue to take action against despicable terrorists who are incited by the Palestinian Authority in Jerusalem and throughout the country.”

The Israeli government has recently increased its efforts to publicize the level of incitement to murder found within numerous aspects of Palestinian society, including the direct payment of terrorists and terrorists’ families after a terror attack has been committed.

On Friday, a terrorist killed two Israeli soldiers in a car ramming attack outside the Jewish community of Mevo Dotan in Samaria.

President Reuven Rivlin stated: “Four more children lost their father last night. For the bereaved the pain is unbearable. Thirty-two year old Adiel Kolman, who worked with dedication in the City of David excavations, was murdered yesterday in the Old City, in a brutal and abhorrent stabbing terror attack. The terror on the streets of Jerusalem, our capital, where Jews and Arabs have lived together for hundreds of years, is a great disaster for all its inhabitants, and we will not allow it to become an existing reality. We will fight against terror and we will overcome.

Nechama and I send a warm embrace of comfort to Adiel’s widow, Ayelet, and their four young children, and send them strength as they face the difficult journey of life without Adiel.”
