It’s time for the gloves to come off… writes Gil Solomon

The Obama so called “peace talks” are falling in a heap due to three main issues.

  1. The unrelenting demands by an enemy that never entered these talks in good faith and which to this day continues with the indoctrination of the Arab population in hatred towards Jews and Israel.
  2. The unrelenting concessions demanded by a US administration which on many occasions could have been mistaken as the mouthpiece of the Palestinian Authority (PA).
  3. The realisation finally having sunk in to die hard Israeli leftists that indulging the PA’s never ending claims and fantasies any further would have meant national suicide.

The one act of defying these Obama inspired “talks” by refusing to release the third batch of murderers gives hope that Israel has had enough and is finally getting up off its knees.

The time has now arrived for the gloves to come off and for Israel to declare the Oslo Accords a tragic mistake that created a people who never existed in history and expose to the world in clear and unambiguous language the fiction that is the “Palestinian” narrative. To declare that the current so called “peace talks” are dead and buried and that the PA’s day in the sun and limelight on the world stage is well and truly over.

Serious issues now require urgent attention. It is time for Israel to act like a sovereign power in control of its own destiny. According to Israel’s Chief of Military Intelligence, Major General Aviv Kohavi, Israel faces 170,000 rockets aimed at her. To quote General Kohavi: “Israel is surrounded by 360 degrees of actual enemies. We call this period in time the ‘Era of Fire’, in light of the amount of missiles and rockets we face as a constant threat. There are about 170,000 rockets and missiles that threaten Israel. For the first time the enemy now has the ability to hit Israeli cities hard. IAF pilots can no longer move freely towards their targets and have to dodge missiles that threaten them.”

To this I say, if you know the numbers then you know the location of these missiles be they at ground level in the open (unlikely), hidden in a house with a detachable roof which can be opened and shut at will or in the myriad of underground tunnels in Gaza or elsewhere. If ever there was a need for a pre-emptive strike without warning to take out these missile batteries, this is it. As the “Palestinians” chose to locate these missile batteries in and around their civilian population centres, then any collateral damage should be of no concern to Israel.

To many who frown upon this scenario, what is the alternative?

To wait until these missiles are airborne and cause pandemonium throughout the length and breadth of Israel? Make no mistake, a devastated Israel will have profound implications for Diaspora Jewry as we currently know it.

The gloves coming off should include bringing an end to all hostility in Judea, Samaria and Gaza. No longer should the IDF be taunted by rock throwing Arabs and be expected to do nothing. In short the IDF’s current restraint and paralysis in this arena should be the failed policy of the past and any future acts of terror be confronted by ruthless and overwhelming force.

Israel should finally take control of the Temple Mount, Judaism holiest site, where both Temples stood. It was an act of insanity for Israel to have allowed the Muslim Waqf to retain control of this holy site after the 1967 war. All this because of then Chief of Staff Moshe Dayan’s desire to be seen as magnanimous in victory. Contrary to popular misconceptions, Rabbis wanted Israeli control of this site while researching where Jews were not allowed to go (a job made difficult but not impossible due to Waqf officials sealing up various tunnel entrances). Nevertheless, Moshe Dayan’s decision doesn’t say much about the people around him at the time in the Israeli cabinet who allowed this decision to prevail.

Control of the Temple mount would mean not only reclaiming Jewish heritage, but this is where foreign dignitaries would be escorted on arrival, not to Yad Vashem, a memorial to our various graveyards.

The gloves need to now come off and now.

All Israeli Arab citizens should be required to swear an oath of allegiance to the Jewish nation and if they cannot, they can be expected to be sent on a one way trip to the Arab country of their choice. After over half a century of democracy, Israel should no longer have to put up with their representatives, like Ahmed Tibi who spew treason and venom day in day out from within the walls of the Knesset. These people were handed citizenship as if it were confetti being showered on a passing parade.

Now it is time for Israel to take unilateral action on borders, hand the welfare of people outside those borders to the UNHCR, Jordan, Egypt or whoever and to expel all foreign and hostile NGO’s. Bedouin land claims in the Negev need to be once and for all denied and those living in Israel illegally, including 60,000 Africans need to be deported en masse. Arab fantasies about a capital in Jerusalem should no longer be entertained, the PA’s office in east Jerusalem shut down and a warning given that the slightest provocation will ensure that supplies of electricity to the so called “Palestinians” from the Israeli grid will no longer be available 24/7.

In short, the party’s over.

  1. Yes the gloves need to come off, but it is still sad that human life will be lost, even that of Muslims. God help us all.

I beg to differ at least slightly.
The break-down of talks is not a reason or a cause for Israel to engage in open armed conflict with anyone. The “gloves off” notion is valid mainly in as much as the rhetoric and its respective tangible political and administration measures by Israel. This is not to say that Israel is not on a permanent state of alert and highest vigilance. The expected 3rd intifada is not the kind of strategy currently employed by the “united” palestinian front, Hamas predilection for armed action notwithstanding. Should they attempt anything serious, the retort from Israel may have much deeper effects into the leadership structure of the palestinian. Also, considering the surrounding state(s) of affairs, the palestinian insurgent capacity is bound to act completely in isolation, with no outside support at all, that includes a Hezbolah otherwise engaged in Syria. If they, Hezbolah, would attempt, then that will be lot of nails in their collective ( and individual ) coffin. This alone may make an Israeli initiative attractive….

For lack of better wording, how many today wouldn’t sleep with the devil for expediency, politicial or other; not very many.
