The author of a national bestseller on the tension between Israel and Iran will address two public meetings in Sydney later this month.

Yaakov Katz

Yaakov Katz, military correspondent and defence analyst for the Jerusalem Post, is an expert on all aspects of Israel’s military, particularly missile defence and the broader strategic and nuclear issues of the Middle East.
Last year he co-authored a book titled Israel vs Iran: The Shadow War, which was a bestseller in Israel. It is due for release in English in May. He also writes for Jane’s Defence Weekly, the prestigious military publication.
Katz is being brought to Sydney by the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies and NSW United Israel Appeal and will address public meetings in St Ives on Sunday evening March 25 and Woollahra on Tuesday evening March 27. His topic will be “The threat from Iran and other Middle East affairs”.
Arrangements have been made for Katz to conduct high-level media briefings and interviews while in Sydney, as well as to address state and local-government politicians, think-tanks and university academics.
The Executive Council of Australian Jewry and Australia/Israel & Jewish Affairs Council will accompany Katz to Canberra, where he will brief senior government and opposition identities, and AIJAC has made similar arrangements in Melbourne, where he will also address a public meeting on Thursday evening March 22.
“Given the heightened state of tension over Iran, Yaakov Katz’s  area of expertise is particularly timely,” Board of Deputies chief executive Vic Alhadeff said. “We urge members of the community to take this opportunity to hear first-hand from an authority who has devoted his career to understanding and analysing the strategic and military issues in the region.”
