Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: “We are in Jerusalem, and our hearts are in Modi’in, at the funeral of the members of the Salomon family.

Chaya, Yosef and Elad Salomon

On Friday night we witnessed a heart-rending drama of vicious terrorism, the fruit of deep and unbridled Jew-hatred. We have been dealing with murderous terrorism for 100 years – and we will defeat it. The pain is deep but our roots in the land are no less deep. Terror will never defeat us. Terror will never defeat us. We will continue to strengthen our state; we will continue to build up our land.”

President Reuven Rivlin laid a wreath and delivered an address at the memorial ceremony for Ze’ev Jabotinsky, on the 77th anniversary of his passing, and on the 66th anniversary of the passing of Johanna Jabotinsky.

In his opening remarks, President Rivlin referred to the murderous attack in Halamish on Friday night and said, “At this very moment, the beloved Salomon family, Yossi, Elad and Chaya are being laid to rest. Yossi, Elad, and Chaya who were marking the arrival of another child to their family, and were brutally murdered at their Sabbath table. Our hearts, the hearts of all the people of Israel, are with the Salomon family and the community of Halamish at this difficult time. The heart breaks at such moments of mourning and turmoil, but it is impossible for public representatives and elected leaders to be silent. The acts of terror, the violence on and off the mountain so holy to Jews and Arabs, must be condemned and must be stopped.”

The President added, “I send my condolences, and those of all the people of Israel, to the families of those murdered, and I want to offer strength and support to all the security forces, the IDF, the ISA, and the Police, who are working day and night to protect the people and the land.”

Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely visits the Solomon Family in Halamish (Newe Tzuf) and has recorded an appeal to the international community:

“It is a mistake to compare this bloody massacre in Newe Tzuf which was the direct result of rampant incitement to the security measures taken at the Temple Mount.
“Whereas the massacre of the Solomon family is a direct result of incitement by the Palestinian authority, Israel’s security measures at the Temple Mount were taken to maintain the safety and security of visitors to the holy site. In this case, Israeli actions were made necessary due to the bloody terror attack that took the life of two Israeli policemen. We are witness to the pattern of vicious murder by the hands of Palestinians for the past century and instead of hearing condemnation from the Palestinian leadership we hear praise from the parents who raise monsters. The international community must intensify their efforts to pressure the Palestinian Authority to call for a stop to the violence instead of demanding that Israel removes security measures.”
