Onward Israel is an exciting new six-week Israel advocacy program organised by the Zionist Federation of Australia for young Australian and South African adults aged 19-30 who want to return to Israel for a second program experience.

Onward-Israel-info-nightsThe program will provide professional training with Israel’s leading advocacy organisation, Stand With Us. Participants will also gain hands-on experience through interning with an Israeli – advocacy or public diplomacy organisation.

The December 1 – January 15 program will open with an intensive orientation session which will focus on group building, reorientation to Israel and an overview of the key issues facing Israel today.

Throughout the program, participants will immerse themselves in this unique experience, engaging closely with a myriad of Israeli organisations which operate in the field of Israel advocacy. A series of richly informative seminars and trips around the country will complement this unforgettable Israel experience.

“With numerous critical issues affecting Israel, including this month’s European Union directive banning its 28 members from providing funding to areas outside Israel’s pre-1967 borders, it is vital that our young people’s advocacy skills are sharply honed – especially at universities where anti-Israel sentiment is often rife,” said ZFA President Philip Chester.

“The Onward Israel program has been designed by experts to provide those skills. It is an immensely important initiative whose benefits will be far-reaching.”

Heavily subsidised by the Jewish Agency for Israel, Onward Israel offers an outstanding opportunity for young adults who wish to be inspired and motivated. The skills and experience acquired through Onward Israel will equip the program’s graduates to confidently advocate for the State of Israel – whether on campus or in the broader community.

The ZFA will host information sessions in Melbourne and Sydney in August with a live link-up to the program organisers in Israel.  Interested young adults are invited to attend, ask questions and learn more about Onward Israel.

Melbourne: Thursday 8 August at 7.30pm. Lamm Jewish Library of Australia, 304 Hawthorn Rd, Caulfield South
Sydney: Monday 12 August at 7.30pm. The Shalom Institute, Shalom College, UNSW
